
MADURAI: The Post Graduate and Research Department of Economics of American College in Madurai had organized a special lecture on August 5th 2024 on the topic ‘export potential of Tamil Nadu’ by inviting Mr.G.Rajamurthy, Vice-Chairman, Tamil Nadu Economic Development Council (TEDCO) and Export Promotion Centre (EPC), as chief guest to deliver the lecture.
“Youngsters should focus on manufacturing and service sector through entrepreneurship, get involved in the VEZ-Village Economic Zone concept to develop rural areas by setting up industries, focus on agri and allied products for exports to increase the GDP growth. Tamil Nadu is in second place in registering State GDP growth in the country, and thrust on exports will double the income for entrepreneurs and the country,” Mr.G.Raja Murthy has said in his lecture while explaining about the historical past, present and futuristic illustration of Tamil Nadu’s economy.
A press release received from the department has informed that Madurai was once a wealthiest place for exports at international level during the ancient period and at the time of Pandya’s period international ports helped trade to flourish in a big way.
Dr.C.Muthuraja, Head of Department, gave an introduction about the importance of the topic chosen for this lecture. Dr.M.Sheela, president, PGEA, was among those present.
