MADURAI: By involving the local people and women, the BJP had taken initiative in conducting holy lamp event ‘ThiruVilakku Pooja’ in Madurai city on March 16th 2018 evening at 7 p.m. as a remedial divine prayer activity after the February 3 fire accident in the famous Meenakshi Temle Madurai.
An active team from the BJP Women’s Wing in Madurai City (Madurai Urban district BJP) had worked and made arrangements for the ‘1008 VILAKKU PUJA’ through a special committee led by BJP Women’s Wing district president Mrs.K.Meenambigai and members in Madurai under the auspices of ‘Annai Meenakshi Pengal Vazhibaattu Kuzhu.’

Padmashri award recipient Mrs.Vijayalakshmi Navaneethakrishnan, a well renowned folk singer and composer / exponent of Tamil folk art, led the women in Madurai city in this important puja held from a temple in Jaihindpuram – Meenabigai Nagar and the nearby streets where women took part.
Prof.Dr.R.Srinivasan, Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary, Mr.Saseeraman, Madurai City Unit BJP president and a large number of BJP Madurai district functionaries / women office-bearers from various levels. along with local devotees, had participated in the ‘1,008 THIRUVILAKKU POOJA’ in Madurai on March 16th 2018.
