MADURAI: Reliable sources in Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here today have said that a leading Tamil daily had developed “personal” grudge against MKU Estate Officer since the estate officer did not allot a special room in main building to the Tamil daily publisher who is also a Syndicate member due to lack of availability of rooms.

A leading Tamil daily newspaper had published a few comments in its column about MKU Estate Officer stating that seniority and eligibility which are required for this MKU Estate Officer post were not followed, sources said.

Based on information gathered from sources today- on May 25th 2024, the ‘Lotus Times’ was told that a media personality who is also a Syndicate member of MKU (Governor-nominee) had asked for a special room to be allotted to him in the main building of MKU administrative building where the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar’s office are there.

“This happened three years back and since then there is a boil. Now the Convener’s Committee is going to be formed in next three days by the Government because VC had resigned and left. So, some issues are being raised now and truth is in favour of MKU,” sources added. (This particular Syndicate member’s term is ending in October this year).

“The special room could not be allotted to that great media personality-Syndicate member in the last two years because of paucity of rooms and shortage of space. Since then, that particular Tamil newspaper has been writing against the MKU Estate Officer about his seniority, eligibility etc. But, the real issue is that the Tamil newspaper personality and Syndicate member and another former Syndicate member who lost in the recent Syndicate member election got frustrated after that defeat and hence targeting the Estate Officer of MKU for not allotting room in the main building of MKU,” association sources told ‘Lotus Times’ English media on May 25th 2024.
