MKU SYNDICATE MEETING ON MAY 28th TO DECIDE ON WHO WILL RUN UNIVERSITY FOR NEXT THREE MONTHS

MADURAI: A crucial Syndicate meeting of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) will take place in Madurai on May 28th 2024 to decide on forming a Syndicate panel (called as CC committee-Convenor’s Committee) that will run the day-to-day administration of the university in the absence of Vice-Chancellor, till the next VC is appointed.

This meeting is important because Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar had resigned and got relieved on May 14th 2024 citing personal reasons.

“The Syndicate meeting on May 28th is very important for us because the State government has to form a special committee of Syndicate members to look after the daily administration of MKU. The meeting will be attended online by Higher Education Secretary-IAS officers Syndicate members from Chennai while our university Syndicate members will attend from here. We are waiting whether it will be a three-member committee or a 5-member Convenor’s Committee (CC). That Syndicate meeting will decide on May 28th 2024 and all eyes are on our Higher Education Secretary. Already the name of Syndicate Prof.B.Mayilvahanan was unofficially decided to be in this committee,” MKU sources told ‘Lotus Times’ news website here today on May 24th 2024.

This committee which is going to be formed on May 28th 2024 will have its duty for next three months because all decisions will be taken after the Lok Sabha election results on June 4th, and then a Search Committee has to be formed to undertake the VC selection process, varsity sources said.
