SIVAKASI: The buoyant industry which works for people’s celebrations and joy – the Fireworks and Cracker manufacturing industry – predominantly based in India’s Diwali cracker capital Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district in Tamil Nadu, is almost in shatters today.
Tagged up as a cause for air pollution, this industry in Virudhunagar district with its over approved 850 licensed fireworks / cracker manufacturing units and benefiting 8 lakh people with direct and indirect employment, is now looking upto the Prime Minster Mr.Narendra Modi, his Cabinet Ministers and his government bureaucrats for its survival. The bans are becoming a bane for Sivakasi.
Mr.A.Asaithambi, president, The Tamil Nadu Fireworks and Amorces Manufacturers’ Association (TANFAMA), Mr.P.Ganesan, TANFAMA Additional gen secy / sr office-bearer and Sivakasi cracker mfrs are making this appeal to the Modi Government at the Centre……

The representatives of fireworks manufacturing association – TANFAMA – have voiced their appeal through this VIDEO to make a plea to the Modi government, Union Cabinet Ministers, bureaucrats, court advocates and others in order to seek their positive collective intervention to save Sivakasi / Virudhunagar district cracker industry in Tamil Nadu.

“Our fireworks industry became an easy target for the people shouting for pollution-free …..But the A/C, vehicle emissions are not being considered……We are not a polluting industry……We will cooperate with the Government in all ways to reduce all types of pollution, but please SAVE OUR INDUSTRY….SAVE SIVAKASI….”.
This was the fervent appeal to the Central Government and to Modi Team while talking to the ‘Lotus Times’ website in Madurai on December 12th 2017 (Tuesday)
