MADURAI: A 58-yrs-aged male patient who was suffering from severe arthritis that had resulted in deformity in right knee joint had undergone a successful replacement surgery with Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology at Vadamalayan Hospitals in Madurai in April 2024.
This AI-enabled knee replacement surgery was done for Mr.Sethu Lakshmanan who had severe arthritis and deformity in right knee joint which had affected his mobility very badly leading him to a situation where he could not carry out his daily chores, a press release received from Vadamalayan Hospitals here today- on May 8th 2024- has informed.
Orthopaedic surgeon Dr.M.Baskar had advised this patient to go for knee replacement surgery with AI technology because that will be a “smart choice” to lead a normal life.
“Knee replacement with AI technology helps surgeons by providing real time data, 3D imaging and perfect anatomical axis of the limb and very good precision during this keen replacement surgery. This results in improved prosthesis alignment, better functional outcome, faster recovery, less operative pain and long term durability of implants,” the hospital press release has added.
