Dindigul hots up as PMK candidate files her nomination; Makes important poll promises

DINDIGUL: Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) candidate for Dindigul Lok Sabha seat Ms.M.Thilagabama had filled her nomination papers here today- on March 25th 2024-before the Dindigul District Collector and Returning Officer M.N.Poongodi.

Accompanied by leaders belonging to the BJP, she had submitted her nomination papers and exuded confidence that she will emerge victorious in the April 19th Parliament election because of her connect and commitment to the constituency people.

The PMK had joined the BJP-led alliance in Tamil Nadu for 2024 Lok Sabha polls and it was allotted 10 seats in the State. Ms.Thilagabama is PMK’s State treasurer and the party had entered the fray in Dindigul Lok Sabha constituency for the second time by fielding its candidate from here.

WHAT ARE HER POLL PROMISES?

Coming as a passionate writer and an orator, the PMK candidate who goes to the campaign along with alliance partners BJP and AMMK as a familiar face of Dindigul district belonging to Pattiveeranpatti and also with an experience of contesting the 2021 Assembly elections from Athoor assembly segment. As the number of Vanniyars are more in Dindigul district, it is being seen as an advantage for the PMK candidate’s victory here.

Knowing well the needs of Dindigul people, Ms.Thilagabama had made a few elections promises assuring that her focus will be to fulfill them if she wins the Lok Sabha election. One of her promises is to safeguard the leather industry and also to prevent the pollution hazard besides protecting the famous ‘lock’ making units in Dindigul district.

Another vital promise made by the PMK candidate is to meet the basic needs of tribal people living in Kodaikanal area such as drinking water, education and medical care. Establishing a perfume-making factory to help the jasmine growers and setting up of weavers park which is a long-pending demand of weavers are the other assurances made by her.

According to political observers, the PMK has an advantage in this election as both the DMK and AIADMK are not in direct fray in Dindigul Lok Sabha constituency this time.
