Skill development centre opened at Thiruppullani

MADURAI: A centre to improve livelihood and focus on skill development of around 300 underprivileged women was opened at Thiruppullani in Ramanathapuram district yesterday- on March 20th 2024.

This initiative was taken jointly by Madurai-based VAPS (Voluntary Association for People’s Service) and CMS Foundation which is an arm of CMS Info Systems.

The skill development centre near Sri Athikesavaperumal Temple in Thiruppullani was inaugurated by Mr.P.Selvakumar, Regional Operations Manager, CMS-Coimbatore in the presence of Mr.V.Velmurugan, branch manager, CMS-Madurai, T.Sofiya, Primary Health Centre medical officer, Thiruppullani and Mr.S.A.Arul, secretary of VAPS, according to a press release.

About 75 women from Thiruppullani and nearby villages had attended the inaugural function of this centre where poor women will be trained, skilled and empowered in tailoring, jute cloth, bag-making and palm product based handicrafts in the next two months.

The objective is to cover the entire Thiruppullani block and make the women there as skilled entrepreneurs, the press release said.
