MADURAI: The American College in Madurai had celebrated International Women’s Day here today – on March 8th 2024 – with an important theme ‘A celebration of strength and wellness of women’.
Dr.M.Davamani Christober, Principal and Secretary of The American College and Dr.Ruksana Raihan, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, US-Bangla Medical College and Hospital, Dhaka-Bangladesh, had addressed the students on women’s day significance.
Dr.Ruksana gave a talk in the inaugural session on women’s health and vaccinations while American College Principal Dr.M.Davamani Christober has informed that there are 240 women faculty members in the college out of a total of 460 faculty.
Women garden workers in the college were thanked and honoured for their support in creating eco-friendly environment in American College. There were sessions conducted by senior advocate Mr.K.Samidurai, State president, Indian Association of Lawyers and Mr.Joseph Kennett.
Dr.Vathanaruba, Dean of Women Students, had proposed a vote of thanks in the Women’s Day celebration at American College here today in which around 1,000 women students participated in celebration and competitions such as dance, ad zap, ramp walk, art out of waste, fire less cooking, singing, debates etc.
Dr.David Praveenkumar, consultant medical oncologist, Vadamalayan Hospitals in Madurai, was invited to address the students on women’s health focusing on cancer among women, according to a press release from the college.
