‘Break the Silence’ expo at Lady Doak College creates awareness on menstrual health

MADURAI: The Lady Doak College in Madurai had organized inter-collegiate expo on menstrual health management on March 6th and 7th 2024 with the theme ‘break the silence around periods by starting a conversation today’.

Students from various colleges had put up stalls for menstrual health awareness in this two-day expo and panel discussions which were held in collaboration with HLL Lifecare Ltd which is a Government of India enterprise of Union Ministry of Women and Child Welfare.

Speaking to reporters at a pressmeet held today (March 7th 2024), LDC Principal and Secretary Dr.Christianna Singh has said that an expo on women’s health is very apt for this Women’s Day because the need for promoting the health of women is very much felt and menstrual health is something that is not a taboo subject.

Ms.M.P.Dhatchayini, Marketing Manager, HLL Lifecare Ltd, said that the expo conducted at Lady Doak College has drawn good attention towards menstrual health and created a good impact among the students- both girls and boys- as they understood the topic in a comprehensive manner.

“Menstrual issues need to be understood from educational institutions to workplaces and in all places. Free sanitary napkins, creating App, vending machines, incinerators etc were among the points discussed in these two days by inviting doctors, activists, academicians, gynaecologists etc. We received support from various quarters including BPCL and others,” Ms.Dhatchayini added.

The topics covered in panel discussion include celebrate menstrual health, misconceptions on menstruation, right diet for menstrual health and workplace challenges.
