MADURAI: A hybrid heart care method of doing cardiac surgery by using both the stent and bypass procedure at a time has been successfully tried, proved and introduced at Dr.Madhavan’s Heart Centre in Madurai.
It is a minimally invasive cardiac bypass surgery going by hybrid mode to treat the cardiovascular conditions by combining the best precision of cardiology procedures that are for cardiac bypass and angioplasty to be done for heart patients.
Speaking to reporters at a press meet in Madurai on March 6th 2024, the Managing Director of Dr.Madhavan’s Heart Centre in Madurai Dr.A.Mathavan has said hybrid cardiac technology takes the best of bypass surgery and stent for heart patients.
“We did the hybrid heart surgery procedure successfully for four patients in last one month. It looks small, but makes a big difference. The Hybrid Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery is a new era in cardiac care. In this new method, the best benefits of minimally invasive surgical techniques with best interventional cardiology procedures are there, with just a small incision. Depending up on the need and patient’s requirement, we will suggest this hybrid method keyhole surgery,” a very senior heartcare expert in Tamil Nadu Dr.A.Mathavan told reporters at the press meet in Madurai on March 6th 2024.
He said that minimally invasive approach of using hybrid MICS (Minimal Invasive Cardiac Surgery) and PTCA (Percutanous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) use small incisions and minimize patient trauma, promote faster recovery. This method of hybrid is used only where the patient suits,” Dr.Mathavan has said and added that the result is good.
Dr.N.Job, senior cardio thoracic surgeon. Dr.Madhavan’s Heart Centre-Madurai, has said that recovery rate is quick and faster for the patient in hybrid surgery method while Dr.M.Ilamaran, interventional cardiologist, informed that this is a surgery cum stent model of heart surgery to treat the cardiac patients and awareness is required about the latest treatment mode available in Dr.Madhavan’s Heart centre in Madurai.
