MADURAI: Higher education staff and observers in Tamil Nadu are shell shocked that the ‘rate’ for transferring an assistant professor from one government-aided college to another aided college within the same region is Rs.15 lakhs and a few stakeholders had given this piece of information to our media website here today.
“The Madurai Bench of Madurai High Court had directed the Tamil Nadu vigilance police to investigate the complaint that Dr.Palpandi was illegally transferred from Kamuthi Thevar College to Usilampatti Thevar Colege and that a huge money was paid as bribe and someone had received for giving this transfer order. How can a file move within 10 days for a transfer? The Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education in Madurai and senior officials will give their replies on this order given by the High Court Bench,” a senior observer of MKU issues told ‘Lotus Times’ media in Madurai on March 5th 2024.
The court had issued direction to the DVAC of Government of Tamil Nadu to conduct a preliminary enquiry as per the vigilance manual on the basis of complaint dated 22-06-2023 and complete the enquiry, and submit the report before the Court within a period of two months from the date of receipt of copy of this order,” the order by Justice K.K.Ramakrishnan, dated February 22nd 2024 has said.
The petitioner in this case is the EC member of Kallar Kalvi Kazhagam, Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar College in Usilampatti in Madurai district, who questioned the transfer of Mr.Palpandi and that huge amount as bribe was involved. (The Lotus Times media has received the full order copy of the court and it gave full details about this allegation).
