PM to lay stone for redevelopment of 13 railway stations in Madurai Railway Division tomorrow

MADURAI: Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for redevelopment of 13 railway stations in Madurai Division through videoconferencing on February 26th 2024.

The railway stations going for redevelopment are Ambasamudram, Dindigul, Karaikudi, Kovilpatti, Tiruchendur, Manapparai, Palani, Paramakudi, Pudukottai, Rajapalayam, Ramanathapuram, Tuticorin and Tirunelveli.

Mr.Sharad Srivastava, Divisional Railway Manager of Madurai Railway Division, told reporters here today evening that among the total 13 railway stations which have been taken up for redevelopment, 12 stations are under the ‘Amrit Scheme’ while Tirunelveli railway station had been included in the major station redevelopment at a cost of Rs.270 crores like Madurai and Rameswaram.

The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone virtually tomorrow afternoon at 12.30 pm and functions will be held in stations. He will also lay foundation stone for six Road Over Bridges besides dedicating to the nation three ROBs and 31 subways (Road under bridges) in Madurai division.

The Amrit Bharat Scheme comes with salient features including modernizing railway stations with long term vision, creating pleasant experience for rail users, stalls for ‘One Station One Product’ scheme, betterment of stations approaches, dedicated pedestrian pathways, construction of high level platforms and more passenger amenities etc.
