Railway Board Chairperson and CEO inspects Pamban Bridge, also reviews Dhanushkodi project scope

MADURAI: The Chairperson and CEO of Railway Board Ms.Jaya Varma Sinha had today done a comprehensive inspection of Pamban Bridge and also reviewed the scope of Dhanushkodi new line project.

She is on a two-day visit to Southern Railway to conduct a full review of important infrastructure and station redevelopment projects that are in progress now.

On February 20th 2024, she arrived in Madurai and conducted a window trailing inspection by a special train from Madurai to Mandapam and she was apprised the status of Rameswaram and Madurai Junction redevelopment works by senior railway officials, according to a railway press release received today.

Mr.R.N.Singh, General Manager of Southern Railway, Mr.Amit Kumar Manuwal, Chief Administrative Officer-Construction Organisation, Chennai Egmore, Mr.N.Sreekumar, Principal Chief Operating Manager, Mr.Desh Ratan Gupta, Principal Chief Engineer and other officers and staff of Southern Railway had accompanied the Railway Board Chairperson and CEO during her inspection of Pamban Bridge and Dhanushkodi.

She held a meeting with Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) officials and discussed about the status of new bridge construction works of Pamban bridge.

Mr.Pradeep Gaur, Chairman and Managing Director of RVNL-New Delhi and Mr.B.Kamalakara Reddy, Chief Project Manager at RVNL-Chennai, were present in the review meeting.

“The Railway Board chairperson and CEO had emphasized on safety and sustainability in bridge construction because it is crucial for uninterrupted connectivity. She also inspected Dhanushkodi with focus on the scope of Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi new line project,” the press release said.
