MADURAI: The Principal and Secretary of American College in Madurai Dr.M.Davamani Christober, who is an elected member of the Syndicate of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU), has today urged the Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar to stop conducting promotion interview process for faculty members whose names are found in the current audit objections.

He made this appeal to the MKU Vice-Chancellor on February 13th 2024 in an open letter, a copy of which was sent to top State government officials urging quick intervention from the concerned authorities.

“This is an urgent appeal regarding MKU issues where salary and pension are not paid for last two months. The prolonged delay in disbursing salary is causing strain for the varsity’s dedicated employees in teaching and non-teaching departments.I am deeply troubled by reports that the Vice-Chancellor is proceeding with Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) interviews amidst allegations of ulterior motives behind these promotions,” Dr.Davamani Christober has said in his open letter.

The elected Syndicate member had appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to refrain from conducting any interview process for CAS promotion for faculty members whose names are found in the audit objections and he also urged the Vice-Chancellor not to submit any names for consideration in the CAS process if they are listed in the audit objections report of the university.

“My another request is to send the names of professors from the list of eligible professors prior to the date of the letter received from the office of the Tamil Nadu Governor for Syndicate nominees,” Dr.Davamani Christober had urged the Vice-Chancellor today.

He also requested for steps to expedite the disbursement of pending salaries and pension benefits to all affected employees and retired staff.

“Ensure that there is transparent and accountable handling of audit objections, and rectify them soon. I request the concerned authorities to intervene because the future of MKU depends on swift and decisive action,” the Syndicate member had stressed in his letter in which he made a special mention about about the fast undertaken by pensioners yesterday.
