MADURAI: The Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) campus here today was very hot and buzzed with activity as two important things took place today – on February 12th 2024.
While the pensioners of MKU were sitting on a fast pleading for their last two months pension which was not given by the university, there were interviews going on for Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) to give promotions for the faculty from associate professor to professor category etc.
The MKU Pensioners Association had today called for a one day hunger fast to demand for their pension pending in the last two months which was not disbursed by the university citing financial crisis being faced by MKU.
At the same time today, the MKU senior faculty members are attending CAS faculty promotion interviews also and this interview process is being keenly watched as a few associate professors are being interviewed for professor posts.
There are vacancies in the university Syndicate to be filled from the category of professors by the Tamil Nadu Governor on recommendation from the MKU Vice-Chancellor.
