MADURAI: The Governor of Tamil Nadu Mr.R.N.Ravi has asked the Madurai Kamaraj University Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar to send a list of eligible professors to be nominated as Syndicate members by the Governor, as three posts are vacant in the MKU Syndicate from December 17th 2023.

“This letter from Governor’s office was received by the MKU Vice-Chancellor more than 10 days back. The Governor-Chancellor has asked for names of professors from our university who can be nominated by the Governor as Syndicate members. There are three vacancies in professor category right now. Our university is facing no representation from professors side in the Syndicate. Three professors from MKU, one associate professor from MKU and one assistant professor from MKU have to be nominated by the Governor-Chancellor. The Vice-Chancellor must send the eligible names immediately to the Governor’s office,” sources told ‘Lotus Times’ media here in Madurai on February 9th 2024.

Meanwhile, MKU senior level officials said that there is a fight between two persons in the university campus that is disturbing the academic atmosphere and “we want the Syndicate nominees issue etc to be settled soon before the new academic year mood begins in our campus.”

Questions are being raised whether the Career Advancement Scheme (CAS) process is being stopped to prevent a few faculty members from becoming eligible to be Syndicate members in professors category nominated by the Tamil Nadu Governor and Chancellor of MKU.
