MADURAI: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) founder and MP Mr.Thol.Thirumavalavan has today urged the DMK government to restore and implement the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) immediately because it was an election promise made in the manifesto before Assembly elections.
“DMK had made old pension scheme for employees as an election promise and it came to power two and half years back. Still, it is not implemented. I appeal to Chief Minister Mr.Stalin to abolish the contributory pension scheme in Tamil Nadu before the Lok Sabha elections and implement OPS for which lakhs of government employees are waiting,” he said in Madurai today- on January 28th 2024.
Mr.Thirumavalavn was speaking at the 50th year golden jubilee celebrations of Tamil Nadu Association of Non-Teaching Staff of Aided Colleges (TANTSAC) here today.
“If the election dates for Lok Sabha elections are announced, then the State government cannot implement OPS due to model code of conduct. The dates for LS polls are expected anytime soon immediately after the short Parliament session. VCK gives hundred per cent support for implementing old pension scheme for employees. In Karnataka, the government there which came to power just eight months back had scrapped the new pension scheme-contributory pension scheme. But, in Tamil Nadu the DMK government did not take any steps for OPS even after more than two years since it formed the government. I will personally meet the CM very soon to reiterate this demand and our party VCK will be with you in this demand and struggle,” Mr.Thol.Thirumavalavan had assured at the TANTSAC conference golden jubilee celebrations held in Madurai today.
Among those who had addressed in this meeting include MUTA Parthasarathy, TANTSAC zonal secretary P.Manoharan and other office-bearers of the association. Totally, 17 resolutions were passed in today’s meeting on various demands.
