MADURAI: There is Pongal festival mood once again in Madurai region today as the grand newly constructed Jallikattu stadium at Keelakarai village near Alanganallur in Madurai district is all set for inauguration shortly.
On January 24th 2024, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin is inaugurating the Jallikattu arena built at a cost of Rs.63 crores. The famous Jallikattu event will take place at this inaugural event and the district administration has made elaborate arrangements.
The Jallikattu arena/gallery was constructed by the State government to provide more facilities for conducting the bull taming festival during Pongal time. The constructed area is 83,462 square feet, it has special rooms for bull tamers, VVIP gallery, and most importantly a seating capacity for 5,000 people to watch the jallikattu.
With the inauguration of ‘Kalaignar Centenary Jallikattu Arena’ at Keelakarai near Alanganallur in Madurai district today, the Tamil Nadu government is expecting a good boost for more tourism in this region and a grand structure for cultural identity.
