MADURAI: The Avaniapuram jallikattu took place in Madurai today- on January 15th 2024- amidst cheering crowds and a festive atmosphere as people celebrated the Pongal festival today. In the total 10 rounds of bull-taming event, totally 817 bulls were released and bull tamers actively participated in this annual event.
Mr.Karthik of Avaniapuram in Madurai was the star of this Jallikattu as he tamed 17 bulls and emerged as winner for which he was presented a car for this feat. Ministers P.T.R.Palanivel Thiagarajan and P.Moorthy had distributed prizes to the winners of various rounds. Madurai District Collector M.S.Sangeetha, Mayor Mrs.Indrani Ponvasanth, Corporation Commissioner L.Madhubalan and officials from various departments were among those present.
The car key was presented on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin and sports development Minister Mr.Udhayanidhi Stalin.
