MADURAI: Due to very heavy rains in Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts in the last 24 hours, the Southern Railway has taken some quick steps on December 18th 2023 to handle the situation in railway stations and for the safety of passengers as precautionary measures.
A press release received from the Southern Railway Madurai Division here today morning- on December 18th 2023, has informed that the railway authorities took special steps by opening additional information counters at Madurai Junction, two exclusive counters are arranged to manage the demand for cancellation of train tickets.
At Virudhunagar railway station, an additional counter has been opened to ensure speed refund on cancellation of train tickets. Several trains have been either fully cancelled or partially cancelled or have been diverted/ rescheduled by the Southern Railway today due to heavy rains in southern districts especially in Thoothukudi and Tirunelveli districts.
