DENGUE FINE IN MADURAI: Corporation teams inspect 414 shops in city, Rs.24,200 is the penalty

MADURAI: The Madurai Corporation is in a serious mode of action to check, control and prevent Dengue fever in the city limits by taking a series of dengue control measures and deploying new fogging machines at various places in Madurai city for stopping mosquito breeding sources.

As a part of that exercise, the Madurai Corporation authorities had imposed a fine of Rs.24,200 after a series of checks and inspections at various places in Madurai city.

On 13th December 2023, a team of officials from the Madurai Corporation here had carried out spot, sudden inspections in 94 shops in Zone 1 area in Madurai city and seized 109 unused waste tyres from there after imposing a fine of Rs.3,700.

In Zone 2 area, inspection was done in 36 shops and 87 dumped waste tyres were seized by the corporation team and Rs.7,500 fine was imposed in that locality. In Zone 3, the inspection was done in 87 shops and 125 tyres were seized since they were dumped as a waste and Rs.4,500 fine was imposed in that zone area.

Similarly, in Madurai Corporation Zone-4 too, the civic body teams had conducted inspection in 89 shops and sized 181 dumped tyres of vehicles with Rs.2,000 imposed as fine and in Zone 5 the inspection was done in 106 shops from where 81 tyres were seized with a fine of Rs.6,500, according to a press release received from the Madurai Corporation here today.

Totally in the 5 zone areas of Madurai Corporation, the dengue related dumping check inspection was done in 414 shops, and 579 unused vehicle tyres were seized by the corporation inspection teams and the fine totally imposed was Rs.24,200, the corporation press release added. and also warned that similar checks and inspection will be done across the city limits of Madurai in order to prevent dengue mosquito breeding sources.
