R.B.Udhayakumar’s assurance to MSMEs on power tariff, says AIADMK will support industry demands to reduce EB charges

MADURAI: Senior AIADMK leader and Tirumangalam MLA Mr.R.B.Udhayakumar has today given an assurance that the AIADMK will extend its total solidarity to the appeals and requests being made Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the State urging the Tamil Nadu government to reduce the electricity charges.

“As an MLA and as an opposition leader, I assure you of our complete support in order to protect the MSMEs. I fully agree that the power tariff charges for small industry must be reduced and your demand to abolish the peak hour charges, fixed charges is a genuine appeal. Our former Chief Minister Mr.Edappadi K.Palanisamy is fully aware of your demands and support your cause because the future of MSMEs became a question mark due to exorbitant electricity charges,” Mr.R.B.Udhayakumar has said while speaking to the representatives of various associations at MADITSSIA Hall in Madurai on November 6th 2023.

The Tamil Nadu Industrial Electricity Consumers Federation had convened a special meeting here today morning to explain about the severe hardships and crisis being faced by small industries due to increased power tariff, peak hour charges /fixed charges etc by the State government.

PROTECT THE SMALL INDUSTRIES:

Mr.R.B.Udhayakumar has also today urged the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin to give special attention to the genuine demands of MSMEs in the State and take a policy decision immediately. “The Chief Minister must announce a decision quickly- either fully abolish or reduce or postpone by two years,” he said while addressing the industry representatives at MADITSSIA Hall in Madurai on November 6th 2023.

Mr.Pon Kumar, coordinator of TN Industrial Electricity Consumers’ Federation, told reporters along with coordinator P.N.Raghunatha Raja, that EB charges has pushed MSMEs into deep crisis, it affected 12 lakh MSMEs in Tamil Nadu and thereby has an impact on two crore workers in MSME sector.

“We are appealing to the TNEB, to the Chief Minister and others to support us. To garner support for our reasonable demands, we are meeting all the 234 MLAs in their respective assembly constituencies from today and giving a representation to them to highlight the plight of small and tiny industries in the State due to heavy EB tariff charges,” Mr.Pon Kumar said.

Earlier, the representatives of various associations- MADITSSIA, Tamil Nadu Chamber etc had a meeting with Mr.R.B.Udhayakumar where they explained to him how fixed charges, peak hour charges, EB tariff etc are badly affecting the daily working of MSMEs.
