MADURAI: The 55th annual convocation of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) in Madurai will be held in varsity campus on November 2nd 2023.
Tamil Nadu Governor and university Chancellor Mr.R.N.Ravi will preside over the convocation function while the Higher Education Minister and Pro-Chancellor of MKU Dr.K.Ponmudi has today openly announced in a press meet in Chennai that he is going to boycott the MKU convocation and hence not attending the university convocation in Madurai tomorrow due to the attitude of Tamil Nadu Governor Mr.R.N.Ravi in not signing for honorary doctorate for over 100-years-old freedom fighter N.Sankaraiah, which was decided, recommended and forwarded by MKU Syndicate and Senate.
Distinguished scientist Dr.U.Kamachi Mudali, Vice-Chancellor of Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai, will deliver the convocation address. In this 55th convocation, totally 1,34,570 students will receive their degree certificates, and among them 1,11,144 students passed through semester pattern from the university and colleges under MKU.
The MKU press release received from Registrar in-charge Prof.Dr.M.Ramakrishnan has also informed that 144 students will be given endowment prizes and medals for their outstanding performance in their examinations.
