MADURAI: Several public health steps have been taken up by the Madurai Corporation through its various civic activities and dengue fever prevention control awareness measures in all the 100 wards of corporation area.
On 19th September 2023, the corporation authorities had carried out spot inspection at different localities in Madurai city as a part of Dengue spreading mosquito control steps.
“On 19th September 2023, a corporation team had done an inspection in Zone 5 – Ward 72 led by Pykaara area city health staff led by its officer to check the dengue prevention measures. During this inspection, the Madurai Corporation’s dengue prevention team staff had found public health rules violations at Saravana Stores in Madurai and imposed a fine penalty of Rs.10,000 for Saravana Selvarathinam Store on Thiruparankundram Road in Madurai city. The fine was also imposed for Devendran Workshop in that area. It was found that there was lot of dumping of waste items in this place which can cause mosquito breeding for dengue,” the press release said.
In this inspection, City Health Officer Dr.Vinodhkumar, Health officer Vijayakumar and several other sanitary and health staff were present, according to a press release received from the Madurai Corporation here today.
