JNU Vice-Chancellor visits MKU, speaks on G20

MADURAI: The Vice-Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru University Prof.Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit had visited the Madurai Kamaraj University here today- on August 29th 2023- to deliver a lecture on ‘India and G20’ as a part of lecture series organized by the School of Social Sciences, MKU.

She had emphasized the role of India in the current G20 scenario, democracy and how the earlier inscription found at Uthiramerur in Tamil Nadu has a vivid and detailed description of democracy much before the British legacy Magna Carta.

The JNU Vice-Chancellor Prof.Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit had elaborated on the motto of G20 summit going to take place in India in the month of September- which is ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam‘- (One Earth, One Family, One Future). “The thrust of this motto has roots in Tamil Sangam literature Purananuru. At this juncture when India is hosting the G-20 summit, we also take pride in women’s contribution towards India’s development, especially the recent Chandrayaan-3 mission success,” she added.

Prof.M.Ramakrishnan, Registrar in-charge of MKU, delivered the presidential address while Prof.D.Ramakrishnan, Dean of Arts, Head and Chairperson, Department of Political Science, School of Social Sciences-MKU, welcomed the gathering.

MKU Syndicate members Dr.S.Nagarathinam and Dr.S.Pushparaj were among those who were present in this lecture programme organised in MKU campus on August 29th 2023. Dr.P.Rajkumar, professor and head of department of sociology, School of Social Sciences, MKU, had proposed a vote of thanks.
