MADURAI: The Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) campus here was filled with patriotic zeal today as varsity staff and students had celebrated the 77th Independence Day on 15th August 2023 in a befitting manner remembering all the great freedom fighters.
Prof.Dr.M.Ramakrishnan, Registrar in-charge of MKU, had unfurled the tricolour and spoke about the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the contributions made by inspiring personalities fighting the British rule. Tributes were paid to freedom fighters like Puli Thevan, Veerapandiya Kattabomman, Maruthu Brothers, Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar, V.O.Chidambaram Pillai, Kodi Kaatha Kumaran, Kamarajar and several others.
The MKU Registrar in-charge Prof.Dr.M.Ramakrishnan, who had addressed the gathering after hoisting the national flag, spoke about the advancements by India in the filed of science and technology, and the recent successful launch of Chandrayaan-3 mission. Students from colleges, NCC and NSS wings, and MKU Middle School had performed cultural programmes.
