MADURAI: Former Registrar of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Dr.Sankar Natesan is sitting on a hunger strike in the university campus here. He commenced his protest hunger strike today morning- on August 9th 2023- near Thiruvalluvar statue outside the main administration building where the important offices of Vice-Chancellor, Registrar etc are located.
MKU sources told ‘Lotus Times’ media website today that Prof.Sankar is demanding that instruments purchased with RUSA funds should be made as a centralized facility for the benefit of all research scholars, students and faculty of departments.
Prof.Dr.Sankar Natesan is Head of Genetic Engineering Department in the School of Biotechnology in MKU. He was the Registrar in-charge of university and resigned in the year 2020 (May month) to focus more on research work.
