“After Mr.Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, several initiatives have been taken for economic growth, jobs creation and global recognition for India. The introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) is one such major decision. The GST revenue is increasing for the government because the issues and appeals made by associations like us have been addressed and hence the GST collection is also going up along with number of tax payers. There are still some pending issues regarding GST and hence we are requesting the Union Finance Minister Ms.Nirmala Sitharaman to convene an exclusive meeting for discussing GST problems faced by traders and invite all associations and trade bodies, stakeholders and top officials so that we can find a permanent solution to GST grievances,” the Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has said in a representation submitted to Ms.Nirmala Sitaraman at Madurai airport on 5th August 2023.
