MADURAI: The sewage treatment plant located at Vellaikkal near Avaniapuram on the outskirts of Madurai city was today – on August 1st 2023- inspected by the Madurai Corporation Commissioner Mr.K.J.Praveenkumar.
This sewage treatment plant, which is under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission, was inspected by the Madurai Corporation Commissioner where he had enquired with local officials about the daily functioning of this sewage plant.
A press release received from the Madurai Corporation has informed today that 800 tonnes of garbage waste collection gets collected here at Vellaikkal daily- everyday- at Vellaikkal dumping yard in Madurai and segregation of waste is done there.
“The Corporation Commissioner Mr.K.J.Praveen Kumar had enquired about the waste segregation process and how plastic is being removed. The rest of the processes being taken at this sewage treatment plant were inspected. The basic facilities provided for workers at this sewage treatment plant, medical health checkup needed for them and the facilities available at Avaniapuram Urban Primary Health Centre were fully enquired and inspected by the Madurai Corporation Commissioner during his inspection today on August 1st 2023. He also inspected the medical facilities available in this health centre for pregnant women,” a press release received from Madurai Corporation today has informed.
Madurai Corporation City Health Officer Dr.Vinodhkumar, assistant commissioner Mr.Sureshkumar, and Corporation PRO Mr.Maheswaran were among those present during the inspection at Avaniapuram-Vellaikkal area in Madurai on August 1st 2023.
