MADURAI: The Principal and Secretary of American College in Madurai Dr.M.Davamani Christober has not informed the government full particulars about properties acquired by him and are not recorded in his service register, according to a report filed by the office of Directorate of Collegiate Education (DCE) in the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court today.

Sources told ‘Lotus Times’ here today that a writ petition filed by Dr.Prabhahar Vedhamanickam (WP MD 24064 of 2022) came up for hearing on July 17th 2023 before the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court. He has been demanding that there should be a fair probe by the DVAC into the allegations of disproportionate assets against the college Principal.

It was learnt that the collegiate education department office had today filed a report dated 13th July 2023 before the Madras High Court Madurai Bench based on the report of Regional Joint Director of Collegiate Education-Madurai dated 12th July 2023 by stating that none of the acquired properties of Dr.Davamani Christober (as mentioned in the complaint by petitioner) were informed to the government as they were not found in the service register.

“The issue that came up in the honourable court today was about a contempt case filed in the court by Dr.Prabhahar Vedhamanickam questioning delay by DCE and pleading for speedy action in the disproportionate wealth complaint against the present Principal and Secretary of American College Dr.Davamani Chistober. So, the DCE has been earlier asked by the honourable court to present its report. Today, the DCE office told the court that the properties mentioned by the petitioner in his petition alleging disproportionate wealth were not found in the Principal’s records available with DCE,” sources added.
