MADURAI: The Lady Doak College in Madurai had celebrated its birthday and 75th anniversary celebrations culmination on 14th July 2023 as a huge gathering of students gathered in the campus with exuberance.
Ms.V.G.Bhooma, principal executive director (HR), Ministry of Railways-New Delhi, who is an alumni of LDC 1983 batch and Ms.Sherin Someetharan, member secretary-advisory council in Finance, Government of Tamil Nadu (of LDC 2000 batch), were the guests of honour for the LDC 75 years event where Dr.R.Beulah Jeyashree, vice principal of the college, had welcomed the gathering.
Dr.Christianna Singh, Principal and Secretary of Lady Doak College, spoke about the college’s achievements and greetings received from well-wishers, especially from the United Church of Chester, USA, of which the Lady Doak College founder Ms.Katie Wilcox was a member.
The 75th year souvenir ‘LDC serving generations’ was released by Mr.John Devadason, chairman, KWEA and the first copy was received by Ms.V.G.Bhooma. The book on ‘QR Coding of Trees at Lady Doak College’ was released by Dr.Daniel Ezhilarasu, member of KWEA and the book was written by Dr.Joy Marjorie Annal D, assistant professor, Department of Botany while the first copy was received by Ms.Sherin Someetharan.
The guests of honour for Lady Doak College 75 years event had recalled their connect with the college and fond memories. The strength of LDC founder Ms.Katie Wilcox was highlighted at this celebration meeting which had several cultural programmes. Dr.Srii Latha, associate professor of commerce and programme convener, had proposed a vote of thanks. Students of LDC had performed a skit enacting the life of college founder Ms.Katie Wilcox who started the Lady Doak College in Madurai in 1948.
