Emotional homage to Karumuttu T Kannan by TCE alumni; Madurai campus in tears (Part 1)

MADURAI: The sudden passing away of legendary personality from Madurai late Karumuttu T.Kannan is still a shock in many homes, several families and old students of the prestigious Thiagarajar College of Engineering (TCE) in Madurai.

It was a recollection and reflection of memories about the life and contribution of great personality of late Karumuttu T.Kannan at the homage meet organized at TCE campus in Madurai on June 17th 2023 by the TCE Alumni Association where they recalled how Karumuttu Kannan had helped thousands of poor families and deserving students through education, how he restored several dilapidated Hindu temples with his divine intentions and the manner in which he stood by the employees of his textile mills etc.

The TCE Alumni Association had organized a respectful homage meeting in TCE campus in Madurai where the old students had recollected their memories with Karumuttu T.Kannan for the past several decades. He passed away after a brief illness in Madurai on May 23rd 2023.

Mr.Balamurugan, president-elect of TCE Alumni Association and Mr.Hari Thiagarajan (son of Karumuttu T Kannan), Dr.S.Rajaram, Principal in-charge of TCE and several TCE alumni including renowned DRDO scientist Dr.Sivathanu Pillai, Kalasalingam University’s Dr.Thangaraj, Mr.K.Elango, Prof.K.Arunachalam, C.Muruganandham, K.Karnan, Mr.Subramaniam, C.T.Narayanan, D.Shankaramurthy, R.Kishore and Venkat Sivagnanam, were among those who had recollected their memories and great moments with late Karumuttu T Kannan, who had served not only as an educationist. industrialist and philanthropist but also as ‘Thakkar’ of Sri Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai for quite a long period.
