CHENNAI: The Royal Enfield Academy for Technical Skills has commenced training cum placement for the 37th batch of candidates recently and it is being implemented through CED (Tamil Nadu) which is a leading agency in entrepreneurship development. This training had started on 29th May 2023 and a formal inauguration of training was held in Chennai on June 8th 2023.
Totally 175 candidates from various places had been enrolled in the 37th batch, according to a press release received from CED (Tamil Nadu). The RE Academy (Royal Enfield) for Technical Skills in Chennai is a CSR initiative of the famous Eicher Group Foundation which is the CSR division of Eicher Motors Limited that brings out the Royal Enfield bikes. The Centre for Entrepreneurship Development-Tamil Nadu is working as a nodal agency for this training.
“They have contracted with CED (Tamil Nadu) as the implementing agency for technical skills from July 2019. A MoU was signed with Rrase College of Engineering at Padapppai in Chennai to house the training centre with five technical labs- vehicle assembly, engine assembly, industrial welding, industrial maintenance and machining through CNC machine. It is a scheme of empowering the educated and unemployed diploma holders from polytechnic colleges through a one month free residential technical training ad place them in automobile sector after they successfully complete technical training and certification,” the press release said.
MORE THAN 2,500 CANDIDATES PLACED:
In three years from 2019 to 2022, the Royal Enfield Academy for Technical Skills had successfully trained and placed as many as 2,505 candidates. Now, the 37th batch training had commenced and 175 candidates from all over Tamil Nadu had been enrolled in this batch.
Dr.A.Amalraj, Additional Director General of Police and Tambaram Police Commissioner, had participated in the inauguration as chief guest while Mr.Sunil Rajagopal, Lead-Sustainability of EGF-Chennai, was guest of honour. Dr.Renganathan, Chairman of Rrase College of Engineering, felicitated the students.
Dr.R.Jayaraman, Managing Trustee of CED (Tamil Nadu) which is the implementing agency of this CSR project, welcomed the gathering and spoke about the importance of training programme. Ms.P.Bhagavathi Rani, project coordinator and Ms.S.Ramani were among those present at the inaugural function.
