MADURAI: Senior BJP leader Mr.H.Raja has today demanded the immediate resignation of Tamil Nadu Minister P.K.Sekar Babu because he he has totally failed to protect the lands and properties of Hindu temples in the State as Minister for Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE).
“The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court has taken up several petitions and heard cases of temple lands being misused and encroached in Tamil Nadu. The High Court Bench had given directions that Hindu temple lands should not be used for any other purpose other than the noble intention with which the donor had donated land to a Hindu temple. I am appealing, alerting and warning the Joint Commissioners of Hindu temples in the State to follow HR&CE department rules and court directions,” Mr.H.Raja has said talking to reporters in Madurai on June 7th 2023.
Recalling the High Court Madurai Bench order about a temple land case and the several directions given to HR&CE Department that temple lands should not be misused, Mr.H.Raja told reporters that it is the duty of temple officials and staff to ensure that the land is properly used and protected.
“Why is temple land given to private parties? If given for lease, for what purpose? Is it for vehicle parking use? Everything should be clear. The HR&CE Commissioner or joint commissioner of temples, including the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai are answerable. They have no right to use the donor’s land which was given to temple with a specific purpose, divine thought and a reason by a Hindu devotee. If the top level officials of Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu fail to take action, I am warning that cases will be filed in court against you,” Mr.H.Raja had alerted the officers and all the staff of Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu.
He had demanded the resignation of HR&CE Minister Mr.Sekar Babu because he ceases to be a Hindu the moment he started shouting in Christian meetings. “The HR&CE Minister should be a professing Hindu, the temple officers must be professing Hindus. Our duty is to protect Hindu temples and their properties. Some Executive Officers of Hindu temples in Tamil Nadu are under doubt, working with bad intentions. My warning is from Madurai Meenakshi Temple officers,” the senior BJP leader has said talking to media in Madurai on June 7th 2023.
