MADURAI: The name of N.T.Ramarao (NTR), the legendary film actor and a real hero of Indian politics who played a significant role in strengthening the regional parties and federalism structure in our country through his Telugu Desam Party founded in the year 1982 and later National Front etc, is being strongly considered for conferring of ‘Bharat Ratna 2023’ posthumously this year by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, according to the political sources who informed this to ‘Lotus Times’ media today. (There may be a double Bharat Ratna awards this year and one name will be NTR from south India).

The name of NTR is on top of the probables’ list because this is NTR’s birth centenary year – and already there is an appeal on behalf of nine crores of Telugu-speaking people in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other places who are demanding the BJP Government led by Mr.Narendra Modi to confer Bharat Ratna posthumously on late NTR who is known for his great film roles in mythological movies as Lord Krishna, Rama etc and in many cinema roles besides his great role as a regional political party leader. While MGR was already given Bharat Ratna immediately after his death in 1987, the name of NTR is still there in waiting list ( NTR was born on 28th May 1923 and died on 18th January 1996).

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) had today- on May 28th 2023- once again requested the Modi government to give ‘Bharat Ratna’ to NTR this year whose birth centenary is being celebrated in a grand manner by Telugu people and a special celebration held at Rajahmundry on May 28th 2023.

“Because Tamil Nadu was given its importance through ‘Sengole’ placing in new Parliament. For Telugu people, the Modi government is thinking of Bharat Ratna for NTR who dethroned the Congress party government in 80s and emerged as a political force for then Indira Gandhi. Now, NTR’s name is under consideration and it will be announced soon after consulting the family members of late NTR and TDP leadership,” sources said today. Telangana State is going for assembly elections in November-December 2023 while Andhra Pradesh is going for assembly elections in May 2024.
