MADURAI: Just within hours of raising a question at today’s Senate meeting about 10 months pending salary for faculty and staff working in the Women’s Studies Centre of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) here today, a cheque for Rs.41 lakhs was released by evening towards the salary that was not paid for faculty and staff of this centre.
At the MKU Senate meeting on 31st March 2023, a question was raised and an appeal was made by Senate member Dr.P.Ponramu urging the university authorities to find a quick solution to the staff of MKU Women’s Studies Centre who have not been paid monthly salary for the past 9 months. “Please give a solution to the women working there. They are struggling, please give their salary regularly. The university can pay first and take it when the UGC reimburses. Please settle their salary without anymore delay,” Dr.Ponramu added.
Responding to the Senate member’s appeal, MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar has said that the university is also concerned on this issue and it will be resolved soon. Within a few hours, the salary cheque was released and given to the Women’s Studies Centre of MKU here today- on March 31st 2023.
