MADURAI: The Department of Physics of Lady Doak College in Madurai had conducted inter-collegiate physics meet PHYXPLOSION’23 here on 27th March 2023 for undergraduate and postgraduate physics students to stimulate their creativity and make them think out of the box. Theme for this year was ‘smart energy utilization’.
Dr.T.Arockiadoss, assistant professor and head in-charge, Department of Physics-Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, who was the chief guest, spoke on the topic ‘Invention, Innovation and Intellectual Property Rights’. According to a press release received from LDC yesterday, various competitions were conducted for students on model display, meme creation, paper presentation, quiz etc with focus on learning physics through fun. There were 37 participants from six colleges.
Dr.J.Chitra, Dean of Student Affairs and associate professor, Department of Mathematics, Lady Doak College, was the chief guest for valedictory function and distributed prizes to the winners. The American College (main campus) in Madurai had bagged the overall shield of PHYXPLOSTION’23.
Dr.A.R.S.Janci Rani Juliet, associate professor and coordinator of B.Sc Physics with computer applications, LDC and Dr.Sharmila Banu, assistant professor, Department of Physics, were among those who spoke.
