MADURAI: The ‘Save MKU Coalition’ has today made a fervent appeal to the academic fraternity in Madurai region to make a right choice and cast their votes to those candidates who can protect the welfare of teaching and non-teaching staff of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) and its affiliated colleges as MKU Syndicate members, Senate and Academic Council members.

In a press statement issued from Madurai on February 26th 2023, the Save MKU Coalition president Prof.A.Srinivasan and secretary Prof.R.Murali have made an appeal to those who are going to cast their votes on March 3rd 2023, to elect members to the MKU Syndicate and for the voters voting for Academic Council-Senate.

“Our MKU is in a precarious position right now, especially in financially crisis situation. Our university staff are losing their jobs and salaries, there are protests going on. The same dangerous situation is there in distance education wing also. The promotions pending for our professors is in a question mark, and hence the coming election in a few days to elect MKU Syndicate members and for academic council and the choice from Senate will determine the future of our university. Please don’t think on the lines of caste and religion in this election which is important for the future of our teaching fraternity and students. Elect a member who will be away from caste and religion feelings, vote for a candidate who can raise voice against corruption and kickbacks, and think before you vote. Elect a person who can save the future of our university, the rights of our teaching and non-teaching staff and to those candidates who can work to improve the financial position of MKU,” the press release received from ‘Save MKU Coalition’ has said in an appeal to teaching, non-teaching staff of university and colleges in Madurai region, and “follow democratic procedure, don’t yield or succumb to pressures and reflect the voice of teachers’ who want to work honestly for the welfare of teachers and staff of MKU and colleges affiliated to it.
