MADURAI: SS Duraisamy Nadar Mariammal College at Kovilpatti had won the Bishop Dr.A.Christopher Asir Memorial 9th State Level Intercollegiate Hockey Tournament organized by The American College in Madurai from 19th to 21st February 2023 here in the hockey ground.
In the finals, SS Duraisamy Nadar Mariammal College of Kovilpatti won against American College of Madurai with 6-5 goal in the hockey tournament. Teams from Chennai, Coimbatore, Tiruchi, Tirupathur, Dindigul, Virudhunagar, Kovilpatty, Ramnad and other teams of Madurai district have participated in this hockey tournament. The SRM University in Chennai and Government Arts and Science College in Kovilpatty secured 3rd and 4th position in this tournament, according to a press release received from American College here today.
The prize distribution ceremony took place in the American College ground here on 21st February 2023, which was presided over by American College Principal Dr.M.Davamani Christober. Prizes to the winning teams were distributed by Mr.A.Sivabalan, Sholavanthan police inspector.
The winning team received cash prize of Rs.25,000 and the Bishop Dr.A.Christopher Asir Memorial Trophy and runner up team got cash prize of Rs.15,000 with Rajamannar Memorial Trophy. Dr.M.Balakrishnan, Physical Director, proposed a vote of thanks. , at the prize distribution function which was attended by students and staff from various colleges.
