MADURAI: The ongoing agitation and protest by the Madurai Kamaraj University Administrative Staff Association has gained momentum as nearly 10 top associations in Tamil Nadu have extended their full support to the demands raised by more than 300 permanent employees of MKU who are going to get severely affected due to pay scale re-fixation decision given as an undertakaking by Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar and university administration, sources told ‘Lotustimes’ website www.lotustimes.org in Madurai on 14th February 2023.

The administrative staff of MKU are on a massive protest in the university campus here in Madurai because 300 permanent employees of the varsity are appealing to the State government and university authorities that their monthly salary should not get reduced due to the Vice-Chancellor’s undertaking for ‘re-fixation’ of pay for administrative staff-non-teaching staff from attender level to the Deputy Registrar level.

“Our association is getting full support from various associations in Tamil Nadu. Many associations of government employees and university teaching staff associations are supporting our genuine demand that there should not be re-fixation of salary. The administrative staff of MKU will get badly affected because of the undertaking given by our VC to do re-fixation of our pay. We have received support from MUTA, TNGEA, TNGCTA, MUFA, staff association of Bharatidasan University, TNOU, Thanjavur University and our Tamil Nadu State Administrative Staff association. Our appeal is to the MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar and to our university authorities to not reduce our monthly salary,” the MKU Administrative Staff Association has appealed in Madurai on 14th February 2023 as its representatives led by president Mr.P.Murugan, secretary K.Sundaramoorthy and treasurer S.Muthiah are spearheading the agitation pressing for their demands.
