MADURAI: The All India Federation of University and College Teachers’ Organisations (AIFUCTO) has given a nationwide call for holding black badge protest on 14th February 2023 raising voice against National Education Policy (NEP) and also to demand the Government of India to restore the Old Pension Scheme besides other issues.
Prof.Dr.Arun Kumar, general secretary of AIFUCTO, has issued an important press statement from New Delhi today – on 28th January 2023- informing that the national executive body meeting of AIFUCTO has given a call for black badge protest by universities and college teachers across the country and it has also appealed to all fraternal organisations and democratic minded citizens in the country to extend their solidarity.
“Wearing of black badge is a symbolic expression of resentment against hasty, arbitrary and unilateral decisions that are detrimental to the inclusive nature of higher education of the country. In the name of NEP 2020, the UGC has taken negative decisions and brought negative impact regulations such as blended learning system. 4 years UG program, multiple entry and exit, common universities entrance test and the recent draft regulations for entry of foreign universities. The most undemocratic part is that the Union Ministry of Education is not hearing the views of all stakeholders including AIFUCTO. The protest on 14th February 2023 will also demand the Government of India to restore old pension scheme , filling of vacancies, regularisation of service of ad hoc, part time and temporary teachers,” the AIFUCTO general secretary Prof.Dr.Arun Kumar has said in the press release today.
He urged the Education Ministry and the UGC to respond to the democratic voices of teaching fraternity to ‘save education and save campus’.
