MADURAI: Legal sources in the Madras High Court Madurai Bench told ‘LotusTimes’ website here today- on 2nd December 2022- that the Principal of American College Dr.Davamani Christober will not be able to continue as Head of the PG Department of Mathematics, American College, as the outcome of writ filed by petitioner Prof.S.Stephen, associate professor of mathematics department, American College, had come in favour of Prof.Stephen, in the HC Madurai Bench today.
“The college Principal Dr.M.Davamani Christober who is also the secretary of governing council of the American College had appointed himself as Head of PG and Research Department of Mathematics in June 2022 (which was the post held by Prof.S.Stephen from 01.06.2018). I am the senior most associate professor working in the Department of Mathematics and I am entitled to continue as Head of PG Maths Dept. I have sent my representation to the Madurai Kamaraj University also stating that Dr.Davamani as HoD is against the law and that I should be reinstated as Head of PG department of Maths of American College. I am seeking a legal remedy as per rules and laws,” the petitioner has said in his Writ Petition 23903/2022.
Sources said today that Prof.Stephen is getting reinstated as head of department and the appointment of Pirncipal Dr.Davamani appointing himself as Maths Deaprtment HoD is not accepted by the court- on 2nd December 2022- Friday.
