MADURAI: In a very sad moment on the occasion of National Law Day when the country is celebrating our Constitution today- on 26th November 2022, the Vice-Chancellor of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Prof.J.Kumrar had lost his complete cool and balance at the famous peaceful serene Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai today and started showing his anger against senior journalist and founder of ‘LotusTimes’ English news website Shastry V Mallady, for a news item that was carried in the website citing the objections raised by staff and students on the VC’s proposal to change the university timings.
The MKU Vice-Chancellor Prof.J.Kumar was the chief guest for the 12th convocation ceremony of the Institute of Gandhian Studies and Research at the Gandhi Museum in Madurai. He began shouting at the ‘LotusTimes’ and started making personal comments for a news item that was carried on our website on November 9th 2022 which says ‘MKU STAFF OPPOSE VC’S PROPOSAL FOR 8.30 AM TO 4.30 PM WORKING HOURS’.
For 45 minutes today, the start of convocation got delayed because the VC was shouting at ‘LotusTimes’ www.lotustimes.org and I was the target for MKU Vice-chancellor who started questioning about the journalism media experience of Shastry V Mallady. (Maybe he did not know that I began reporter in the year 1993).
The staff of Gandhi Museum were present when the MKU Vice-Chancellor was losing his control and lost balance in his words that were insulting the media that questions.
