MADURAI: The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains and Merchants Association has made a very important appeal from Madurai to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.M.K.Stalin, Commercial Taxes Minister Mr.P.Moorthy and senior IAS officers to ‘stop the extortion of Goods and Service Tax officers contacting the traders and manufacturers through telephone and order for investigation’.
In a press statement released from Madurai on November 18th 2022, the association president Mr.S.V.S.S.VelShankar and association’s honorary advisor Mr.S.P.Jeyapragasam have brought to the attention of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister that “for the past few months, many companies have been getting phone calls from some unknown people saying that they are going to come to inspect their companies and asking them to be watchful and to avoid this they are demanding money and are being cheated by them.”
So, the Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association Limited has requested the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and senior IAS officers to protect the manufacturers and traders from such anti-social elements. The association has also urged the businessmen to not give any of their business information and GST details over the phone.
