MADURAI: A comprehensive analysis report prepared by noted career guidance consultant Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi on the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA 2022) counselling has revealed that 173 engineering colleges in the State could not fill up even 10 per cent of their seats while 25 colleges couldn’t even fill a single seat , at the end of third round of engineering admissions counselling on October 29th 2022.
“Our analysis shows that 52 engineering colleges in TN filled more than 80 per cent of their seats and 114 colleges filled more than 50 per cent of their seats. While 173 engineering colleges couldn’t even fill 10 per cent of their seats, 7 government institutions could not fill even 50 per cent of their seats. Only 33 colleges filled more than 80 per cent of their seats,” Mr.Gandhi has pointed out in his analysis of TNEA 2022 third round analysis report of academic general counselling for engineering admissions (excluding vocational and government 7.5 per cent quota).
Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi’s analysis report on TNEA 2022 admissions which is available with ‘LotusTimes’ news website has given a full picture about engineering admissions counselling status as on October 29th 2022.
“This year, at the end of third round of counselling, still there are 86,784 seats vacant out of the total number of 1,39,251 engineering seats. Till now 37.7 per cent of the seats have been filled and so we can expect this year that 62,000 seats will remain vacant at the end of fourth round of academic counselling for engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu. Three colleges filled all the 100 per cent seats out of which only one is self-financing. The 3 colleges that filled 100 per cent seats are CECRI Karaikudi, PSG Institute of Technology and School of Architecture-Chennai,” the analysis report has said.
STUDENTS’ PREFERENCE:
Among the courses, the students’ preference of engineering branch was for CSE and IT related courses followed by ECE. “As usual, the preference for mechanical and civil engineering was found to be less. More than 100 colleges still have mechanical seats available even in OC category and more than 50 colleges still have civil engineering seats available in OC category,” according to the analysis done by top career guidance expert and career consultant Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi, on 29th October 2022.
