62,000 ENGINEERING SEATS TO REMAIN VACANT IN TAMIL NADU IN 2022, SAYS J.P.GANDHI

MADURAI: Career guidance consultant Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi has released a detailed analysis of the academic general counselling being held for Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) 2022 saying that he is expecting over 62,000 engineering seats to remain vacant in Tamil Nadu this year.

“This year, at the end of third round TNEA counselling, still 86,784 are vacant out of total number of 1,39,251 seats. Till now, only 37.7 per cent of seats have been filled at the end of 3rd round of counselling. Last year, at the end of third round, 38.85 per cent of the seats were filled. So, this year we can expect over 62,000 engineering seats will remain vacant at the end of fourth round of academic counselling for engineering admissions,” Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi has said in his TNEA 2022 third round analysis of academic general counselling (excluding vocational and government’s 7.5 percent quota), which was given to ‘LotusTimes’ on 29th October 2022. The Tamil Nadu engineering admissions general category counselling began on September 10th 2022 and there are totally four rounds of online counselling for admission in engineering courses. The third round of TNEA counselling commenced on October 13th and ended on October 29th 2022. TNEA 2022 counselling gets over on 13th November 2022.

AT THE END OF THIRD ROUND:

In the third round this year, out of 49,043 students 24,727 students got admission allotment for engineering courses in various colleges across the State, i.e. 50.42 per cent of eligible students. Last year, it was 55.65 per cent in the third round of TNEA counselling.

“Overall, at the end of third round of counselling, out of 94,620 students who are eligible, 52,467 students got allotted and it is 55.45 per cent. Last year at the end of third round, around 62.52 per cent of the eligible student got allotted for engineering admission. This year, at the end of third round, still 86,784 engineering seats are vacant out of the total number of 1,39,251 seats available. So, till now 37.7 per cent of the seats have been filled,” Mr.Jayaprakash Gandhi has said in his TNEA 2022 third round analysis report on 29th October 2022 (based on academic general counselling and excluding vocational / Govt 7.5 per cent quota).

The second round of TNEA 2022 counselling was held from September 25th to October 13th while the third round of counselling was from October 13th to 28th. The fourth and final round of counselling is from October 28th to November 13th 2022.
