MADURAI: The noble ‘Annadhanam’ service to feed the hungry persons with food by the ‘Madurai Atchayapathiram’ Trust here had completed 500 days of its committed reach out to the poor and roadside needy persons on September 17th 2022.
With the efforts of its founder and social activist Mr.Nellai Balu, the ‘Atchayapathiram’ has been providing food the roadside / homeless/ sick persons, poor and deserving people and to the patients’ families at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai for the past 500 days. The service of this food serving-hunger saviours was felt the most during the Corona period and COVID lockdown days that were there in the last one and half years, because Mr.Nellai Balu and his team went out to provide food to the needy persons on Madurai streets.
On September 17th 2022, the completion of 500 days of poor feeding in Madurai was marked by distributing food boxes to the needy near Gandhi Museum in Madurai city. For the starting of 501st day service on 17th September 2022, Mr.R.B.Udhayakumar, MLA and senior AIADMK leader from Madurai and Deputy leader of Opposition in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, had supplied free food to the needy persons on those who are on the road pavement side before Gandhi Museum-Rajaji Park footpath side thereby making it an occasion to remove the POOR PEOPLE HUNGER project that had completed 500 days and is feeding the mentally ill / roadside dwellers / poor and orphans.
Mr.Nellai Balu has thanked all the donors and philanthropists, the members of Rotary Clubs and the well-wishers of ‘Atchayapathiram Trust’ in Madurai. He is also secretary of Rotary Club of Madurai East (Cell number 94426-30815). Former MLA Mr.S.S.Saravanan and others were present when the free food distribution to the poor and deserving persons began in Madurai on 501st DAY on September 17th 2022 from the roadside pavement hungry persons near the Gandhi Memorial Museum in Madurai city.
