MADURAI: The five-day workshop on Radio Production being organized by the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication-Directorate of Distance Education, Madurai Kamaraj University, began here on August 22nd 2022. Mrs.V.Thara Devi, Programme Head, All India Radio-Madurai, delivered the inauugral address and she emphasized the importance of creativity, listening and reading among students.
Prof.Dr.J.Kumar, MKU Vice-Chancellor, who presided over the inaugural function on August 22nd 2022 spoke on the importance and the role played by radio during the COVID pandemic period. “There is a need to understand the importance of nutrition and breast feeding in the contemporary scenario. Students’ participation in promoting health importance among the people and the importance of radio programmes is vital,” he added.
Dr.Saleema Radiyath, organizing secretary of the workshop, welcomed the participants while Dr.V.Thiruveni, DDE faculty, had proposed a vote of thanks. Dr.M.Ramaswami, Director of Directorate of Distance Education, MKU, offered his felicitations.
Dr.V.Ilamparuthi, assistant professor, Centre for Film and Electronic Media Studies-MKU and Mr.Joseph D’Souza, addressed the participants. There are 75 participants in this workshop. Among those present in the inaugural function include RUSA coordinator Dr.Kumaresan and DDE faculty besides faculty from other institutions, according to a press release received from the university here yesterday.
