MADURAI: To mark the 75th year anniversary of India’s Independence Day celebrations, a essay writing competition was conducted for college students. A student of Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) Evening College in Dindigul – S.Jothiram- of postgraduate second year M.SC (Maths)- had won State-level 3rd prize in the State-level essay writing competition conducted on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Governor, according to a press release received from the university here today. He received a cash prize of Rs.50,000 and appreciation certificate at the Independence Day 2022 celebrations held in Raj Bhavan in Chennai on 15th August 2022.
This student works in ‘Gandhi Vegetable Market’ in Dindigul from 8 am to 3 pm as a part time worker there and is also pursuing his higher education in the MKU Evening College in Dindigul.. The prize winning student Mr.Jothiram was felicitated by Madurai Kamaraj University Vice-Chancellor Prof.Dr.J.Kumar and MKU Registrar Dr.M.Sivakumar, university Dean Mr.Sadasivam and MKU Evening College’s director Dr.Megarajan here on August 16th 2022.
